Specifically, the study on the beneficial effects of the Mediterranean diet on heart disease involved about 1,197 individuals with a history of heart disease. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"262\" src=\"https:\/\/contedoro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dieta_med_1-300x262.jpg\" alt=\"THE-MEDITERRANEAN-DIET-HELPS-EVEN-THOSE-WHO-HAVE-HEART-PROBLEMS\" class=\"wp-image-551\" srcset=\"https:\/\/contedoro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dieta_med_1-300x262.jpg 300w, https:\/\/contedoro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dieta_med_1-300x262-69x60.jpg 69w, https:\/\/contedoro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dieta_med_1-300x262-103x90.jpg 103w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The adherence to the Mediterranean Diet of these volunteers was scored from 0 to 9 points.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Those who adhered to the Mediterranean Diet saw their risk of death lowered by 37 percent compared to the group that followed its rules less.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">By isolating individual elements, it was possible to calculate how much individual foods could affect: high vegetable intake affects 26 percent, fish provides a benefit of 23 percent, fruit and nut intake contributes 13.4 percent, and high intake of monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids 12.9 percent.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThese results,\u201d explained <strong>Giovanni de Gaetano<\/strong>, head of the Department of Epidemiology and Prevention at Irccs Neuromed, Mediterranean Neurological Institute in Pozzilli, Isernia, Italy, \u201care prompting us to investigate the mechanism by which the <em>Mediterranean Diet<\/em> may protect against the risk of death. There are several hypotheses. The foods that, as our study confirms, contribute the most are characterized by <strong>polyphenols<\/strong>, substances that give color to fruits and vegetables, but above all have an <strong>anti-inflammatory<\/strong> and <a href=\"http:\/\/olioloconte.it\/benefici-olio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>antioxidant<\/strong> <\/a>and may promote health precisely by reducing inflammation and lipid oxidation, mechanisms that lead to tissue deterioration, and death.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Those with cardiovascular disease should follow the Mediterranean Diet.
