Ravece

The Ravece is an olive tree belonging to the cultivar varieties of the province of Avellino and more specifically Irpinia. Also known as Curatona or Olivona, its origins in the Irpinian territory date back to the early 1500s and, theextra virgin oil obtained from the milling of its olives, has always been rated among the best EVO oils in the world for its exceptional organoleptic characteristics that make it one of the prized products of the oil sector and most sought after by lovers of good food and healthy cooking.

The yield of Ravece oil is not as abundant as that derived from other olives (15-16%), and this is another factor that contributes to the value and quality of this fantastic EVO oil.

At Contedoro, we have been producing Ravece Oil since 1927, the year our Family Oil Mill was inaugurated, and today we carry on this tradition with passion and adherence to the healthy production rules of yesteryear.

Ravece Oil from Irpinian Olives Guaranteed

The Ravece Olives that arrive at our mill come exclusively from Cultivar Irpine, located in the green and hilly territory between Ariano Irpino and the Ufita Valley. For us, our bestowers are not only suppliers of such an excellent fruit as Ravece olives, but they are family friends, for generations. That is why Contedoro’s Ravece oil is so appreciated, because it is the same oil we put on our tables every day!

Characteristics of Ravece

The main characteristics of Ravece are first noticed at the sensory level:

  • Color: Green with yellow highlights
  • Scent: Fresh, very intense
  • Taste: Intensely fruity, herbaceous and with hints of green tomato

On tasting, Ravece reveals its nature with a strong, fruity, bitter and slightly spicy flavor.

Ravece oil is enhanced if, as they say. “used raw”, that is, you use it on dishes after they are cooked, such as grilled meat, soups, soups, boiled and grilled vegetables or on salads and bruschetta.

The strong character of this unique extra virgin olive oil has conquered all of Italy and, we are sure, it will conquer you too!

Ravece Oil – Extra Virgin DOP

Irpinia – Colline dell’Ufita oil obtained recognition as a Protected Designation of Origin in 2010 for the production area traceable to Irpinia. The specification requires that the olives be harvested by hand or with the aid of machines and nets, just as we have been doing in Contedoro for almost a century!

Ravece Price

The right price for Ravece oil ranges between 10€/Lt and 14€/Lt but, like all products from agriculture, it may depend on the olive yield. However, to be sure you are buying a good Ravece extra virgin olive oil, we recommend being wary of those who offer this oil at prices below 10€/Lt.

The advice we would like to give is to NEVER compare the selling price of an excellent Ravece oil like our Ravece Contedoro with other common oils. In fact, these are completely different products in terms of the quality of the raw material, the care taken in the production process and the wholesomeness of the final product.
