Description

The pears in our compote are one of the excellences of Campania, pere mastantuono or “pere e mast’Antuono.”

It is an exceptional but now increasingly rare product, indigenous to the inland areas of Campania. The mastantuono pear is small in size, roundish in shape, yellowish in color with some brown mottling and a short stalk. What makes this fruit perfect for compotes is the soft and very fragrant flesh, these characteristics also make it perfect for one of Campania’s classic pastry desserts, namely ricotta and pear cake.

The addition of the walnut kernels is that extra touch that embellishes the fresh pear compote, making it the perfect product for a break.
